The Snow
Standing in the fallen snow,
I search for no one, I stand alone.
Breathless silence for miles around,
Only one set of footprints remain on the ground.
No one else stands beside me now,
Only ghosts from the past linger 'round about,
Reminding my heart of a bitter chill,
That tore through my soul, and stole my will.
I once stood circled by many a presence...
Others I thought shielded, protected my essence;
Friends and family that I grew to love,
Abandoned by all, when all's said and done.
Life is now barren, bleak desert of white,
Coldly comforting me this night.
It's soft embrace turning me to stone,
I have no one... I stand alone.
